If Nothing Else….

I will master the fast section of the Martinu Flute Sonata tomorrow. Even if I don’t accomplish ANYTHING else the entire day, I have to prove to myself that I can get something right. These past few days just haven’t been going right, so I guess I need to start small. I need to accomplish just one thing. So that’s it.

Tomorrow I will master the fast sections of the Martinu. I’ll let you know how that goes. Maybe I’ll make a couple other things go right tomorrow too. Let’s hope so.

I got this.

Why Be My Best?

For Me

For my niece and future nephew

For Mom and Dad

For my sisters and their husbands

For Heavenly Father

For my roomies

For Jarred

For the strangers that come into my life

For those that need an example

For those that need someone to boost their confidence

For my future kids

For my husband-to-be

For Christ

Sometimes working hard just for me won't be enough. Being my very best just for my own benefit might not be convincing enough. But people are watching. Being 6'1', musical, health-nutty, Mormon girl, I definitely stand out from the crowd. And the world needs a good example. God needs a strong child to be able to serve Him. People need an angel in their life to lift them and know they aren't alone. I want to be someone's angel.

It is Time to be Stronger

Oh my goodness I love this:

It is so true. There are so many things in life that everyone could accomplish but they choose not to, because the easy, more enjoyable, but less beneficial route is staring back at them.

I’m done taking the easy routes though. I don’t care if something is difficult, I will do what it takes to reach my goals. I don’t want to look back at the end of 2012 and say ‘Wow', I didn’t move forward much’. That’d just be too much guilt when there are so many opportunities in my life right now to learn and grow so much.

Ready? Lets do this.

Christmas Day

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that everyone had a good time with their family. Today was such an interesting experience. Since Whitney and Spencer won’t get to California till the 29th, we are waiting to celebrate Christmas with them. Still, to celebrate Christmas today, with no presents and pictures was still a great day. Today I was able to focus on Christ. I was able to go to church, hear songs of praise to Him, come home and focus on Him. The celebration of His birth.

It really should be like this every year. Before the commercialization of Christmas, it was simply about Christ. About being with family, and celebrating all the blessings we have received. Today I was really able to feel that focus. I liked it :)

That’s not to go without saying though that I am still pretty excited to open presents later this week.

Also, it seems weather everywhere feels like this:

I pray for just a few days of California sunshine

I hope you all are still doing well! You are in my prayers.

Something New

You guys, there is something very different about Utah. The weather is totally unpredictable here. One day it is pouring rain, and the next day it is nice and warm outside. Weird. But I like it :)

Can’t wait for thanksgiving! Hope y’all are excited too!

The First Snow!

You guys! It was just snowing outside! Given, it was only like, 5 tiny little snowflakes that fell before it stopped, but it was snowing nonetheless! Plus the mountains are all starting to get covered in snow! So pretty! And sooooo freezing! I’m already missing summer a little bit. Winter is pretty too though :)

Prepare to be Inspired

Last weekend when my family was here, we stopped by Deseret Book and I got the book “Created for Greater Things” by Jeffrey R. Holland. It is packed full of inspiring quotes and messages, and I am just in love with it! One quote this week especially inspired me. It was:

"God expects you to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in Him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing. In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic); He expects you to embrace and shape the future-to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities."

Wow! Isn’t that so true? God expects more than for us to just survive. He expects us to take advantage of our blessings and thrive in life! I just love it! So that is what I have been focusing on this week. Thriving. Moving forward with power. Having optimism. Even though I’m sick, I’m trying my best to have an attitude of hopefulness and optimism. It is pretty sweet :)

Hope everyone is having a fantastic week as well! I love you all a bunch!

Chelsey
