2011 Begins!

Aaaahhh the New Year is here with a fresh start! A time for new starts, new opportunities and new goals! So, just like Whitney (if you’ve seen her blog yet) I do one word mottos each year as a theme for the year. 2011’s motto I changed a few times but I think I have it perfect this time. This year’s theme is

Create!

With so many adventures (like college!) ahead for 2011, I have a lot of things I need to learn how to do, and I really want to focus on creating more. Creating tangible items (like being able to cook, sew exc.), helping to create more opportunities for service, creating more meaningful music, and creating my own unique ideas to help others as well as myself.

I’m so excited for this year and for all the wonderful events that I will be able to experience.

Also, to kick off the New Year, I redecorated my room! My mom found this AMAZING black and white bed spread that I fell in love with, and I’m adding pink accents to the room to give it some color. Here’s what it looks like so far.

I’m still using the same pictures but switched them to black frames (I looove black and pink!)

This is a close-up of my new bedspread. Isn’t the pattern cute?

I love my new room! With that, have a fabulous 2011!!!

5. I was accepted to BYU Idaho and anxiously waiting to hear from BYU!!!

And as a final hoorah to 2010, I went to the Stake Youth New Years Eve dance last night.

(As Julia and I are on the Stake Youth Counsel, we prepared 350 cupcakes to serve as refreshments at the dance the day before. Here’s our handy work.)

The night began at Julia’s house with pizza from Little Caesar's. Yum! It was soooo delicious! Once we finished our yummy pizza, me, Ashlyn, Julia, and Allie all got ready to go to the dance together. We all got ready pretty fast so with our leftover time we played Apples to Apples. (*Julia won!)

Once we arrived at the dance it was already pretty crowded, but it was sooo much fun! Cameron and Allie were totally amazing salsa dancers! We ate a lot of food and got to watch James and Julia dance together, which was too cute!

Later in the evening, I made two new friends, Justin and Eddie. They were both from the Hemet Stake and were such great dancers and were really funny. Justin was a total sweetie and asked me to dance like, three times. He was so nice!

After the dance, I came home and wished Mom and Dad (who were already all tuckered out) a Happy New Year and went to bed.

My Julia!

Today I would like to share with you a post about one of my very favorite people! Julia Pulley! She is one of my very best friends and one of the nicest people I know. I have been hanging out with her a lot lately and we have had so many fun adventures! Last week it was pouring down rain and we went rain sledding and played in the leaves and mud at the park. Afterwards we walked back to my house soaking wet.

We were sooo wet but we had so much fun!

Afterwards, once we dried off and changed we went to the clinic to see the new clinic pet, a sphinx (hairless cat) named Buck. He is a funny looking little critter, and when seen by clients is often mistaken for a Chihuahua, alien, or rat. Shari describes holding him perfectly, saying “it’s like cuddling a raw chicken”

And once we were done at the clinic, we came home, ate pie and went swimming!

We have had so many other adventures too! Going to summer scholars together, playing on her trampoline,  looking at Christmas lights and baking many delicious pastries.

Julia is so fun to be around and one of the sweetest most caring people I know! I’m so glad I’ve been able to have so many amazing adventures with her and am so excited that I might have the opportunity to room with her in college!

Our Puppies!

Our family is full of animal lovers. With Dad being a veterinarian, that probably helped sparked it but that love grows even more with Whitney and Shari having pets of their own all the way in Texas and Washington. I can’t help but smile when I see Brawny and Baby terrorizing the house on a daily basis. With their cousins Lizzy and Murri and Luna it is quite a party!

Brawny’s reindeer outfit was a little big on him…

Murri and Baby added to the fun too…

They played and played and played all Thanksgiving and it was quite an adventure walking all three puppies at once. :-)

And now Luna is part of the party too! I don’t have a picture of her though, but I’ve seen a couple and she is so darn cute! Little babies. I’m glad to know that Whitney and Shari have their puppies to keep them company when they are so far away (oh and I guess they have husbands too, not like they count though… hehe). What would we do without man’s best friend? They sure are fun!

Pearly Whites!

It’s finally happened! After a year and a half of waiting, my braces are finally off! Yay! I got them off on Thursday and I’m so excited to have them look so straight and pretty!

Here’s a couple pics for now but I’ll have better ones soon once I have someone to take my picture. Smile

Getting Organized

As I’m getting ready to hopefully go to college this next year, I’ve been becoming ultra-aware of getting organized. I have organized the pictures in my computer, my closet, and write out everything in my planner every day. Tomorrow I plan to tackle the mess my room is. I really hope when I get to college I’ll be able to be a tidy roommate! I am getting so excited for college!
